Population Day : Awareness Walk Arranged in Faisalabad
District Population Welfare office arranged an awareness walk to mark the World Population Day here on Thursday. The walk was started from District Council Chowk and culminated at Katcheri bazar chowk after passing through the Khaleeq Qureshi road.
Chairman PHA/MPA Latif Nazar led the walk District Population Welfare Officer Zafar Iqbal, DDO Population Welfare Tayyaba Azam, District Coordinator for Epidemics Dr. Bilal Ahmad and other officers were also present in the walk and a large number of citizens belonging to different walks of life including representatives of NGOs and staff of health and population welfare department were participated in the walk which were carrying the placards and banners inscribed of slogans about small family importance and save the health of mother and child.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Chairman PHA/MPA Latif
Nazar said that the increasing population was swallowing our
national resources and population should be controlled for durable national
development. He said that the small family trend should be
promoted by raising maximum awareness for growing the educated and
civilized society in the country.
He appreciated the initiatives and efforts of the population
welfare department and said the awareness program to control population
should be expanded at all level even in the universities and industrial units
to tap the students and industrial workers in this regard. He said that
the observance of World Population Day is meant that the whole world is
affected from this
menace of increasing population.
District Population Welfare Officer presented the performance of the department and informed that medical camps, healthy baby shows, poster competitions, media workshops, declamation contests, walks, seminars, ullama conferences and other programs are being held for dissemination of the small family message at every level. Other speakers highlight the issues of rapidly increasing population and said the national development could not be possible without controlling the population. They said that the population welfare program should be followed for the prosperity of the family.
